TEACHING OUR CHILDREN

Myrtle Fillmore

The understanding and realization of GOD being the very mind and life and  substance of man’s earthly existence must be as much a part of man’s consciousness as are human relationships.  We must learn to know that GOD is Spirit and that his Spirit within us is the motive power which carries us forward in every department of our daily living.

Children should be taught GOD is Spirit and that the purpose of their being is to express GOD. They should be trained in the faith and understanding which makes them to know that they express the spirit of GOD in their every intention and thought and act. The child’s mind accords perfectly with true ideas and it is easy to rear children in conscious Unity with GOD when they are encouraged through faith to claim their Sonship.

YOUTH OF UNITY

Greetings from Y’ed

Hope everyone is staying warm and healthy in spite of all this cold, rainy weather we are experiencing. We are halfway through our study of "Unity Basics for Life". The children are enjoying learning the five Unity principles and applying them to real life situations. In one class we created "ochos des dios" or the eyes of God. These mandalas are reminders that while we are looking for God that he/she is looking back at us, divinely guiding us to the highest expression of our potential.

Deb Mazanek led a class based on Armand & Angelina's song "Love is a Boomerang" demonstrating that which you hold in your mind will manifest itself in your life. Sharon Pettijean took the children through a lesson of how God expresses himself through us by intuition, gut feelings, and the energetics of the chakras. The kids had fun painting colorful spiritual faces.

Although Don LeClair was ill and unable to take the teen class on Feb 14 ( I don't believe there were any teens in attendance that Sunday) he is still planning on having another teen class on March 21. Also on that same date, we are planning an activity to plant a tree and perhaps clean up the "Peace Garden" outside, beside the sanctuary. This will be followed by a picnic, weather permitting. We could really use some volunteers to help plan this project. If you will note the schedule for March 21, you will see I have scheduled everyone. My hope is that the entire Y.O.U. program will turn out for this fun filled day of work and play.

 A couple more notes:

-Sharon's son , Wesley, and Mary's son, Noah, have won their respective divisions at the State level for "Odyssey of the Mind." They are going on to compete at the National level. We see them as focused and successful in their quest to excel against their peers.

-A friendly reminder...it’s not too late to attend the Youth Educators conference in Va. Beach March 12-14. If you would like more info contact Michael or Rev. Ginny.

- On Palm Sunday we will be graced with the wisdom and wit of Bob Sloan as he speaks about the history and symbolism of the "Resurrection"

-and on Easter Sunday we will be equally blessed with the presence of Rev. Jan Sloan. She will present a short talk on the Unity viewpoint (metaphysical aspects) of Christ's suffering, death and Ascension. This will be followed by an Easter egg hunt for the children.

Well, that’s all for now . Hope to see or hear from each of you soon. I remain......

Yours, in the Power of Love and Light.

Michael
